No one said it would be bright


Although it may seem that as a recent ex-smoker, I am compelled to trash cigarette ads, this is actually quite far from the truth. In fact, I have a great interest in advertising tobacco, mainly because it is so damn difficult what with all the restrictions and stuff. However, these days Sofia became flooded with these:

Seriously? Bulgaratabac – “A look into the future”??

Come on, now. A carpe-diemish headline I would have understood well. After all, every self-respecting smoker will spend hours on end convincing you that they enjoy their little habit just as they enjoy life – here and now – and are not particularly concerned with eventual future trouble that might arise thereof. However … A look into the future? As a headline of one of the most common causes of nasty diseases and premature death? I think not.
